Italy is now home to the world’s largest HIT-equipped solar plant

Solar PowerFuels have made our lives easy and comfortable by powering most of technological innovations we see around us. Soon, most of the resources like diesel, petrol, natural gas that are current generation fuels will get exhausted. There has to be an alternative where renewable resources like solar and wind energy can be brought into use, reliably so.

Many companies are experimenting and developing vehicles running on electricity or solar energy. While nobody knows how successful these will be, every effort is being laid to make that happen. Solar energy is a renewable resource and can be very helpful for us in the future. The world’s largest HIT-equipped solar plant has been established at Torre Santa Susanna, Southeast Italy.

This solar power plant is equipped with 32,202 Panasonic Group’s high-efficiency high-output HIT® 235 solar modules. These modules, together can produce a maximum power of 7.567MW. This is the largest tracking solar power plant in the whole of Europe and the largest to use HIT solar modules in the whole world till date.

This solar power plant project was an initiative of the Deutsche Bank’s finance and renewable energy department. The construction of this plant was completed in December, 2010, and the system was attached to the grid in April, 2011. Sanyo, a Panasonic subsidiary company, has played a major role in this project by providing its well known HIT solar modules.

There is no competition for HIT solar modules in the market because of its high output for their surface area, high conversion efficiency and great reliability. HIT solar modules are the best choice for medium size commercials and home systems. With the success of this project, the possibility of HIT solar modules being used for large scale solar power systems has great;y increased.
