Ion Horse: Advanced wind powered superbike can spurt to 140 mph!

Ion Horse Wind Powered Superbike
Following up to their much ballyhooed wind powered electric supercar Nemesis, Ecotricity in collaboration with Kingston University has now unveiled their completely zero-emission version of a wind powered superbike. Dubbed as the Ion Horse, this conception is all set to compete in the eminent TT Isle of Man racing competition, which is considered as one of the premier electric bike racing events in the world.

The 37 mile course has always been challenging for drivers, but, according to Ecotricity, the advanced Ion Horse is specifically contrived to cope up with such demanding trials. The vehicle is touted to spurt to an exhilarating speed of 140 mph (225 kph), and, as a matter of fact, the developers are already envisaging the bike to maintain over 100 mph (160 kph) over an extended lap; thus creating a record of sorts (since the race’s founding in 2009). This, in process, would grab them a prize of £10,000 from the Isle of Man Government.

According to the Ecotricity owner Dale Vince:

Following hard on the heels of our wind powered car, the Nemesis – comes Ion Horse our wind powered bike. The guys at Kingston have built an amazing machine and we expect it to take the TT by storm. It’s another great demonstration of how transport of the very near future will be – powered by renewable energy, made in Great Britain – and with zero pollution.

But before you jump to a pleasant reverie of owning one, it should be duly noted that the motorbike comes with a humongous price tag of £150,000 ($246,000). So at the end of the day, we only hope such exquisite ‘green’ conceptions make their way into the common man’s commercial scheme of things, and until then we can only shower our praises from afar.
