Introducing the refined Peugeot EX1 – One of the world’s fastest electric cars

peugeot ex1 nurburgring electric car record

From the front it may look like some futuristic rendition of a classic convertible and from the side it may look like the improved albeit sturdier version of the Batpod, but here it is – the latest in the line of electric supercars, the Peugeot’s EX1 concept. And believe me when I say it’s really fast, as it just broke the lap record for an electric car on the exalted Nurburgring track with a time of just 9 minutes and 1.338 seconds, which is actually 50 secs more than the previous record.

The all-electric vehicle is powered by two motors which has a total output of 250 kW (340 bhp) and 240 Nm of constant torque. The power in turn is delivered to all four wheels of the car. But the interesting feature of this vehicle is its conspicuously low height of only 0.9 m. This certainly accentuates upon the aerodynamic attribute along with the light weighted carbon fiber passenger cell

Now coming to the new record set by this fascinating piece of technological marvel, the car maintained an impressive speed of 85.9-mph (137 km/hr) on the 12 mile course, and as already mentioned beat the previous record by a significant margin of 50 secs. This remarkable feat certainly makes it at par with its equally eminent peers like the Chevrolet Cobalt SS Turbo or Ford Focus RS. And to think that it was all in a zero-emission mode makes the record certainly a little more special.
