Eco Factor: Solar-powered internet kiosk for rural Africa.
With an aim to bring power and internet connectivity to the people living in rural Africa, Intersat has introduced its much anticipated Rural Internet Kiosk (RIK) – a 100 percent solar-powered kiosk capable of operating three terminals for up to 24 hours under zero sunshine conditions.
Powered by get2net, the internet kiosk is rugged in design and can be easily transported and assembled on site within a short period of time. The kiosk is also capable create small hotspots next to it that can increase the number of users. In addition to being an internet connection point, the kiosk also aids in economic empowerment for the community.
