Hydrogen powered Tucer 2009 concept promises an earth-friendly commute

Tucer 2009

Many companies are working tirelessly to develop ecofriendly cars which can prove to be a perfect alternative for petrol and diesel vehicles as vehicles that are powered by conventional fuels emit harmful gases as byproduct, which pollutes the environment and causes global warming. It is expected that very soon these smoke emitting vehicles will be replaced by the vehicles running on clean fuels.

The need of the hour is to develop eco friendly vehicles as they can reduce carbon emission to a great deal and will maintain the ecological balance. Not many of us are doing enough to protect the environment but there are some designers who are busy conceptualizing machines which can keep our environment healthy by reducing carbon emission. Spyros Samaras from Technical University of Crete, Greece has designed such a concept – a hydrogen powered car named the Tucer 2009.

Samaras designed the car concept for Technical University of Crete. He wanted to compete in the shell eco-marathon 2009 with his Tucer which consumes 1 liter of fuel to cover a distance of 371 km. Yes you read it right, 371 km, which means that Samaras’ creation is not only ecofriendly, it is budget friendly as well. With these features, the Tucer 2009 won the top prize at the safest car category in the competition. Look at the images in the gallery and I am sure you will love the glossy design of the car, which looks similar to cars we often see in sci-fi films.
