The Japanese automaker, Honda has planned for a next-generation diesel engine that will deliver as clean a drive as a low-emission gas engine of a comparable size. The FCX Concept fuel cell vehicle is capable of moving noiselessly and effortlessly at about 100 miles per hour. This latest innovation of the company will have a limited marketing in Japan and the U.S. in 2008.

It is at the company’s research facility north of Tokyo, Honda Motor Co. has showcased its latest eco-friendly development in clean driving to reporters recently. Unlike the old-style fuel cell stacks — where the main part of the fuel cell vehicle are usually placed under the floor of a car making for thick floors and a box-like look — the Honda’s new fuel cell stack is 20 percent smaller than the one it developed in 2003.

It can also sit in between the driver and the passenger’s front seats, where the stick shift lies in a regular car. Along with being eco-friendly, this has given the car a slick, streamlined, close-to-the-ground look.
