It is one thing to take a piece of white cloth and parade it around or transform it to create something nice and claim that you are a carrier of peace, but it becomes something else when you can take weapons of war and create art out of them for the sake of peace. That is exactly what a group of British artists are doing in Cambodia which has been plagued by civil war for a long, long time. Wars are ugly affairs, but you will surprised to see the beautiful things these artists are creating out of the weapons that were once designed to shed blood and destroy life.

Over its long years of civil war, the Cambodian government has collected and destroyed more than 160,000 weapons across the country. Some of the weapons which were not destroyed were donated to the PAPC.

The weapons were recycled (sculpted, forged or welded) into amazing works of art such as chairs, tables, bikes, animals and various other sculptures by student artists from the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh. The concept not only encourages the artists to get creative, but it also spreads the message of peace and environmental harmony by recycling and reusing the once dangerous weapons. This really is amazing for the sheer idea behind it!
