OK so this is perhaps the supreme example of American hypocrisy. This group from Philadelphia PA who call themselves Team pzkpfw have recreated a human-powered Panzer Kampwagen III, pink camouflage and all, and are planning on crashing the 2nd annual Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby with it. The tank is currently installed as public art on the west side of Frankford Ave, just north of Norris St. But that’s not what bothers me. My concern is that the video the group shot to promote their “art work” looks a whole lot like one of those Al-Qaida terror videos, men standing atop tanks with gun and all, with the only difference being that instead of a religious chant, they have a rocker screeching his lungs out in the background and that in the video they were “shooting” photographs of a bunch of bikini-clad women instead of taking aim at hapless citizens!
The video and the project have generated a lot of curiosity in the town for its artistic novelty but what I’m saying is, if a bunch of guys wanted to do a similar art project in a part of Afghanistan, they’d probably get the whole town bombed before the day was over, so how come these American dudes get to do it and not even have a cop show up on their door? So much for Uncle Sam BRINGING liberty, fraternity and equality to these nations they invaded claiming such moral and “democratic” high-grounds!
