With funding from the federal government’s Education Investment Fund, Griffith University is all set to give Australia its first zero emission and self-powering education facility. Located at Nathan, the $32 million building uses solar-powered hydrogen energy to meet with its energy requirements. It is made using 30% recycled material, while the solar panels incorporated are made of transparent glass. Placed near the Toohey Forest Conservation Park, the center will include green features like natural ventilation, gray water recycling and advanced water collection. The six-story structure with 4,000 sqm of usable floor area will house multi-purpose lecture facilities with capacity for 200 students and 100 offices.
