Green Toys debuts eco-friendly toys made from Bioplastic

No better way to make kids learn than by combining learning with good ol’ play time; hence all the funny learning toys flooding the market. But kids are smart, they realize our evil intentions. What we need is a subtle approach. Make the toys ‘green’ without kids ever knowing that.

A new company called Green Toys is working on it and has developed green toys for children. Toy sets for making tea, cooking and playing the sand will be made of bioplastic that uses corn and other natural materials as the base.

These toys will debut at the San Francisco International Gift Fair this week. According to Green Toys the material used in these toys is provided by Cereplast and the biodegradable colorants are from PolyOne.

Biomaterials are already been used in car interiors but this unique way of developing toys with eco-friendly material has provided a hidden advantage. Children often start to chew and often ingest parts from the toys, if they are made of petroleum products that might harm them, but since these are made from bioplastic there is no such harm.

The pricing of these toys is not announced yet, but since ethanol will make corn more expensive, we don’t expect a light price tag on any of these toys. Nor do we expect the kids to realize that they are being imparted lessons in environment studies.
