‘Green’ Airbus superjumbo takes off

airbus launches green plane 9At a time when the entire aviation industry is grappling with its greenhouse gas emission and groping for a way out, finally there seems a light at the end of the tunnel. Airbus has given a facelift to A380 superjumbo and is claiming that the ‘Gentle Giant’, as they call the model, would go a long way to efficiently tackle greenhouse gas emission.

Pressure has been mounting on the aviation segment, which is often the main culprit when it comes to greenhouse gas emission. Jet travel has been a major source of such emissions and in the latest air show in Paris, the industry faced public outcry and the challenge now is to come up with green solution.

Airbus, world’s largest airlines, sprang to action and came up with a revamped version of its A380 model at the Paris air show, where sales chief of the company John Leahy went on to claim that it would save the world. Leahy in fact titled a segment of his presentation ‘Saving the planet, one A380 at a time.’

According to Airbus, the new plane boasts of better fuel efficiency which translates in lower CO2 emission per passenger.

Airbus has been toying with the idea for quite sometimes and the project saw the light of the day after a two-year delay.
