Greece to legalize recycling of post-construction rubbles

It is a matter of concern that every year, some 5.5 million tons of rubble are left behind at construction sites in Greece. The government taking the increasing environmental burdens of concrete landfills, have decided to recycle these leftovers of building materials. It has decided to pass a new law, targeting to rid the city of these rubbles in next 10 years.

Constructors, as per the new legislation, will have to recycle at least 50 percent of the remaining post-project building materials. The law will be forcing builders to use recyclable building materials — such as bricks and steel girders. The constructors will also have to submit a plan to town-planning offices before the construction begins. The plans should also ensure on how the material is recycled.
