Eco Factor: Life Sack utilizes SODIS clever technology to filter out impurities from the water.

Reasons could be many, poverty, lack of resources, agricultural runoff or improper use of household chemicals, but all of them lead to just one thing, which is “water contamination.” No matter how much global development our planet has witnessed, we still have many countries that are away from their share of fresh and clean water and food. Many charities around the worlds have been sending common supplies such as grain, packed in sacks to such nations. Taking help from these sacks, three Korean industrial designers have decided to provide clean drinking water to many.

Jung Uk Park, Myeong Hoon Lee, and Dae Youl Lee have redesigned these sacks to function as a water purifier kit. Dubbed the “Life Sack,” the sack uses SODIS (Solar Water Disinfection Process) clever technology to filter out impurities from the water. Soon after the grain is extracted from the sack, it can be used for purifying the dirty water by simply adding a water purifier kit. The ultraviolet radiation and thermal treatment helps to remove harmful microorganisms and bacteria from water. Designers hope that their ingenious creation will prove to be a boon for the people in Africa.
