Hey guys, the world’s first solar powered Ferris wheel is up on eBay for $50,000! The nine-story tall Pacific Wheel has also been honored as the “Best Solar System” in the Reader’s Digest Best in America 2006. This 90-feet-tall, Ferris wheel that weighs 122,000 pounds, is 30 feet wide can reach a speed of 3 RPM. It houses 20 gondolas with a maximum six riders per car and can accommodate up to 800 riders per hour. Also it gets illuminates with 5,392 light bulbs. It includes 8 AC motors; total power requirement is 110 kw with motor at 50 kw and lights at 60 kw; lighting at 120 volt programmed; and minimum/maximum line voltage is 440-480 volt, 3 phase wye, 60 hz.

The Ferris wheel originally cost approximately $800,000. However now the reserve is set at $50,000 with 50 percent of the winning bid being donated to Special Olympics Southern California.
