Google unveils its ambitious plan of including 70 EV charging stations across its headquarters

Electric Vehicle Charging System

The wireless Plugless Power charging station was unveiled at the Google’s headquarters over at Silicon Valley’s Mountain View, back in March. Inspired by this success, Google embarked on a clean and green endeavor of installing EV charging stations. After taking the level up a notch, Google has announced that it would install 70 EV recharging stations, across the parking lot of this Mountain View headquarters.

Though it is available to only Google employees (along with beneficiaries of Google’s car sharing program), one can’t simply disregard the novelty as well as scale of the sustainable proposal. To add to it, this will only be the first phase of the overtly ambitious scheme,as Google has further plans to incorporate 250 additional charging stations to bring the grand total to 320. This, according to Google will fulfill their target of reserving 5 percent EV compatible parking space.

While the enterprising plan may seem grandiose, it certainly doesn’t come as a surprise in the more sustainable scheme of things. Google along with other corporate bigwigs such as General Electrics and Honda has already shared a history of patronizing green technology. Green initiatives such as featuring EV charging stations in Google Maps, or even investing a humongous sum of $55 million in Mojave Desert wind farm, have been undertaken by the internet giant in the recent past. However, with scarcity of EV charging stations in the present scenario, the proposal may well become a landmark in the progression of green technology.
