Gliss-speed: A bantam electric marine craft posing as the water based version of go karting

Whenever we think of go karting, our reverie reverts back to those bantam four wheeler contraptions jauntily swirling around the special racing tracks. However, French based company Aqueleo has thought of something remarkably out of the box, by fascinatingly contriving its own version of go karting, which is applicable on the vast expanse of water, not road tracks. Touted as the world’s first commercially available water based go karting mechanism, this cute electricity driven conception is dubbed as the Gliss-Speed.

Designed intentionally with diminutive dimensions, this special two seater craft does insinuate the fun side of affairs. According to the company, the controls of this contraption are so simplistic that there wouldn’t be any requirement of a driving license. In fact, as per their page, the whole marine vehicle can even be driven by kids as young as 8 years of age, since its mechanism entails controlling by a joystick.

However, in spite of the small size of the vehicle, it also claims improved maneuverability and specs. Supported with an aerodynamic stable body and on board handles, the Gliss-Speed can achieve substantial speeds of up to 25 km / hr.

But, beyond mere specifications, it is the low emission electric powertrain that has tickled our fancy. According to the designers, the turbine is powered by an electric motor of 1500 W at 10500 rev / min. This set up is complimented by a lithium-ion battery pack, which can keep the craft running for two to four hours. Moreover, as the most user convenient feature, this electric mechanism will have an operating cost of less than 10 times, as compared to any gas guzzling mechanism.
