GE is about to revolutionize commercial lighting arrangements by replacing old fluorescent light systems into modern energy saving LED lighting system. Most offices, schools, hospitals, stores and other commercial venues are lit with uninviting fluorescent fixtures lining the ceilings giving the venue a rather drab existence while eating away greedily on energy resources.

A global connoisseur of light solutions, GE’s ever evolving technology has redefined commercial lighting over the years. This time around GE has introduced a new line of overhead lighting system with LED fixtures named as edge lighting to replace the outdated flickering florescent lights atop many public hallways and offices and stores. With a fine balanced combination of performance, aesthetics and technology the new lighting system has a coin sized LED light mounted on a textured optical screen. The screen made by PC memory company Rambus, disperses light efficiently with compact focus on specified areas.

Suited to various commercial requirements, the design line comprises of four different models like the tile design, the overhead hanging design, the Float or the most strikingly designed Blade redefines efficiently enlightened space with minimum energy requirements and maximum longevity of about 35,000 hours, or 15,000 hours longer than a fluorescent bulb.

Expected to hit the market around the end of the current year, GE’s new edge series, analysts fear might be an expensive conversion from existing system considering high costs of LEDs. However its chic elegance, longevity and economical power consumption could serve well to offset its costs in the long run.
