Now, this is what we call the real penetration into the elements. The Herculean solar kitchen established in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India is world’s biggest, running on huge solar reflectors that ‘produce steam which is used to cook vegetables and rice for up to 18 000 people.’ Where we’re constantly moving towards more compact technology that runs on solar power, this solar kitchen is an eye opener for all of us paving path for amassing and using solar energy in its real sense.

The project is a joint effort of Brahma Kumaris India and Solare-Bruecke, Germany. The steam produced by seizing the heat of the sun can reach temperatures of 650 degrees C (1,202oF) at the focal point of the reflector, fueling gigantic industrial pots of 200 and 400 litres (53 and 106 Gal) where the food is cooked.

The system set up at the Academy for a Better World on Mount Abu, 1,300 metres above sea level can churn out 38,500 meals per day when the sun is in its full glow.
