Eco Factor: Multi-purpose device runs on solar energy.

Eton radios are known to be cool and ecofriendly. However, unlike previous models, the company’s latest Scorpion radio is different – it doesn’t rely on electricity from the wall socket neither does it trusts a hand crank, but it does in fact rely on the most abundant source of renewable energy: the sun.

The device packs a digital radio tuner, NOAA Weather stations, an LED flashlight for those dark times and a bottle opener. The device doesn’t come with external device charging just like some of its cousin models do, but being “splash resistant” the Scorpion is definitely a handy companion in all sorts of emergency situations. Costing $50, the Scorpion will hit shelves this spring.
