There are efforts required to alter traditional practices and make them more environmentally friendly. One such step has been taken by Vishal Agale who has designed a product to offer a newer and greener identity to the sink shredder at par with the level of other appliances. Vishal has created an Eco-friendly wet waste shredder named eva, which removes the problem of the production of greenhouse gases due to food waste shredding under the sink for drainage. The design for eva makes it reduce global warming.
This new product makes it easy to dispose off the household food waste and acts as a biogas plant by treating the waste as a raw material for biogas production. The shredder is fixed under the sink as commonly done with other shredders. But in contrast to a common shredder, eva has an integrated water inlet through which extra water can be added to the existing wet waste. This is done to maintain the required viscosity of the slurry during the shredding process. This shredded slurry is then directly usable for the production of biogas. While the shredding takes place, water tap needs to remain open. Else, water should constantly be added manually per the requirement to make the slurry.
The shredded slurry in eva goes in drainage through a shredded slurry outlet, while the produced biogas can be used for various domestic applications that require energy. Thus, this green appliance is a creative and Eco-friendly solution to the commonly faced wet waste shredding problems. Additionally, eva looks stylish in itself and also adds to the beauty of the surrounding. Such kind of a product is not only useful for domestic purposes but may also get to become a strong design concept to inspire the development of higher-level industrial waste management solutions in future.
