solar powered station

Main-Remote GSM base station RBS 2111, a new product from Ericsson, has a lot of important features that are designed in such a way that it will minimize the consumption of power and will be easy to utilize the technology in remote areas. This was the declaration given by Ericsson. Its energy consumed is 60 percent less than the other solar power units and it is the designing that saves the energy.

The remote radio unit is fixed on the top of the tower and this saves power loss, which could have been by the cable that is used to connect it to the antenna. When the cable is minimized the loss of power in transferring is saved. The heaviest among the components to be installed is 35 Kg, which can be easily moved to any place and thus makes it easy to take it to install or train where the road conditions are poor or even do not exist.

This product has been installed in Sumatra in collaboration with Telkomsel, the Indonesian cellular operator, and will provide power coverage to the areas that are left behind. Ericsson’s first solar powered site was delivered to Maroc Telecom in 2000 and by now it has installed 100 sites all over the world.
