Eco Factor: Offshore wind farm to generate 1000MW of electrical power.

Deepwater Wind, the company behind Rhode Island’s first offshore wind farm, has more than doubled the proposed size of the project, which can allow it to deliver electricity at a lower price. The increase in the size of the project has raised its cost to $6 billion.
The new specifications of the project include 200 wind turbines that will be placed at least 18 miles off the Rhode Island coast. The project will now be generating 1000MW of renewable electric power instead of 350MW that was proposed earlier. The project will feature an undersea transmissions network between Massachusetts to New York, which will be built at a cost of about $1 billion.
