Portraits made from Vials: geek art goes to the next level

Created by Stockholm-based lighting artist Aleksandra Stratimirovic, Sunny Day is a remarkable new art installation that has already won accolades at its showing at the Vzigalica gallery and the Svetlobna Gverila festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia. What is so extraordinary about this bit of art you ask? Well, for starters the entire artwork has been made from medical vials filled with colored fluids! Using 4,000 vials in a sterile laboratory environment, the installation is further illuminated with fluorescent backlight to bring out the image of a girl standing by a lake with a blue summer sky in the background. Now that’s way too geeky for me, but I’m glad someone finally thought of using medical waste for art!
