A contemporary cathedral in Roskilde will soon be housing an incinerator that should start generating enough waste-generated energy for benefitting denizens around it. Designed by the Dutch Architect Erick van Egeraat, the New Roskilde Incinerator Line will help the Danish waste to energy supplier KARA/Noveren to process and convert around 260,000 to 350,000 ton of human waste per year into electricity for powering 60,000 households a year.

With their proposed completion by 2013, each of the six incinerator lines will feature an umber-colored, twin-layered aluminum facade. While the inner layer takes care of the daylight entry and air circulation, it lends the outer layer with flexibility. The proposed construction will include a reception hall, waste bunker and a control room.
