The company's first battery charger using solar energy comes with two thin-film solar panels, laminated in UV stabilized and weather-resistant polymers making the make the charger more durable while minimizing its weight. Ranging from 2 hours for AAA under direct sunlight to six hours for two AA batteries, it is slightly longer than what is usually expected of regular AC battery chargers. The bonus being its ability to function outdoors.

It was the firs charger to be launched in Hong Kong in mid-July, followed by Singapore last week. Priced at S$39.90 (US$29.34) with two AA-sized, the GP rechargeable batteries will be pre-charged for use immediately after purchase. It's something that gives all of us a platform to do our part for the environment and also saves us from the increasing electricity bills.
