Eco Factor: Low-emission vehicle powered by a hybrid engine.

According to senior company sources, Ford’s next-generation Focus could be powered by both a turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor that is mounted on the car’s rear axle. The car has yet to appear on the company’s roadmap, but the company does hint the development of a global performance version of the all-new Focus.

The Focus RS will use ford’s 2.0-liter Ecoboost petrol engine that produces 250hp of power to drive the front set of wheels. The engine will be coupled with an electric motor setup mounted on the rear axle. The advantages of the setup are many including enhanced performance that comes from the high-torque electric motor.
