The Power Dam is an ergonomic and easy solution to your energy-saving needs that has been masterfully designed by Travis Andren, a student at Arizona State University. This stylish and easy-to-install gadget prevents energy wastage by simply saving energy that would otherwise leak away at the sockets of your home. When you plug in your appliances to the plug points a certain amount of energy is wasted in the form of "leakage energy." The Power Dam ensures that this loss is prevented, as the main unit is installed at the main power source and its slave units are plugged into all the sockets across your home.

One can directly plug their electric gadgets into the new slave sockets and this not only saves energy but comes with no installation hassles. The smart system automatically turns off energy for gadgets such as cellphone chargers when they are not in use.

The Dark Side:

It is still only a concept and would take a long time to materialize, if ever. Moreover, with tons of energy-saving gadgets and energy-consumption monitoring devices already flocking the market, it is highly unlikely that this will carve a niche of its own.
