Eco Factor: Binoculars made from ecofriendly materials.

In a bid to green the gear of birdwatchers, Nikon has launched a new range of binoculars that are not only green in color but are made from ecofriendly materials. The 10X25 Ecobins field glasses, the binoculars are made of lead and arsenic-free eco-glass lenses, non-chloride rubber eyepieces, biodegradable case and strap and are shipped to your home in ecofriendly packaging.

Priced at $169.95, the binoculars are waterproof and fog-proof, and weighing merely 12.9 oz they won’t add much weight to your camping gear.

The Dark Side:

The company could have done better in using ecofriendly materials for the body too. For now only the internal elements and the casing have been made green, but the body is still made of un-ecofriendly plastic.
