Once operational, the project would harness power from the waves of the Atlantic to generate electricity of up to 3 megawatts. This production is enough to power around 1500 homes each year. This is equal to almost a fifth (18%) of all households on the Hebridean Island of Lewis and Harris3!

A joint project between npower renewables and Wavegen, the scheme is owned 100% by Voith Siemens Hydro -- the hydro equipment supplier -- since 2005. npower renewables is one of the largest renewable energy companies of UK. And Wavegen is a world-leading Inverness-based wave power company.
