Enercon E-126 – The World’s largest wind turbine!

wind turbines1
The search for alternate source for energy is ready for a crusade and wind turbines have provided sublime hope as well. Whenever we think about wind turbines, we visualize them to be huge, but what makes the Enercon E-126 different is the fact that it is the world’s largest wind turbine.
Ready to light up almost 5,000 homes with only four of these, the Enercon E-126 can produce over 7 megawatts of energy. And assuming each household consumes up to 938 kwh per month, one of these wind turbines can light up 1776 homes. Lets take a take a look at its features.
Still under testing for ultimate storage values and belonging to the family of the other Enercon E series, it is massive with a width of about 413 feet or approximately 126 meters as its name suggests. It is a refined turbine that ensures cheaper per unit production and can replace the smaller turbines, three to one. This also means cost effective and less maintenance fiascos and longer life. With a concrete base, this turbine also features optimized blade design and a spoiler that extends to the bottom where the hub is situated. The sophisticated blades turn at 12 rpms, meaning to complete a circle, they take around 5 seconds. Synchronous generators have been replaced with inverters so that energy can be saved even with varying wind speeds. These look safer and very promising as power source as well. Sounds too good to believe!
