Edit! designs sustainable passenger terminal to link Hong Kong and China

Passenger Terminal Building
The Prague-based EDIT! Architecture has proposed a design for a passenger terminal that would allow both pedestrians and vehicles to cross over from Hong Kong to China with ease. It looks very gracious and Edit Architecture calls it a living link between two great lands – Shenzhen city in China and Hong Kong. It is full of green landscapes along with a green top that add good green looks to it.

This design has many salient features. Its main building is given a sharp form. This structure connects both the ends of the river Shenzhen, with both ends of the building have passengers’ entry and exit points. On moving in the passengers will be greeted by a feel of South Chinese landscape on the terrace. The roof of this building provides thermal and acoustic insulation inside and energy consumption is minimized with an eye on sustainable building practices. Moreover, the architecture also aims to take care of temperature fluctuations to further minimize energy consumption.

Speaking about the external area of the building, one can not miss those multi-colored trapezoidal windows. The windows are computer controlled, which feel the prevalent wind flow and direction and provide natural ventilation at programmed intervals. Moreover, these smart windows also allow daylight inside the terminal in a diffused way to reduce need for artificial lighting. However, the most conspicuous thing about the proposed design is that it allows the entrance to be easily lifted above ground. To regulate vehicular traffic, cars are diverted along the perimeter of the building, which also allows the passengers to travel while enjoying an unobstructed view of the city and water.
