Eco Factor: Renewable energy plants and energy-efficient systems to rise in South Korea.
South Korea has laid plans to become the world’s seventh most competitive country in terms of energy-efficiency and adaptability to climate change. The country is planning to spend a whopping $85bn to achieve the target by 2020. Apart from the green wave, which the project is expected to deliver, the plan will also create up to 1.8 million new jobs in the green sector, which should give a boost to ride out economic slump.
The improvements in energy-efficiency will be achieved via the encouragement of renewable energy projects which will include solar and wind energy generating projects all over the country. The plan will enhance the green wave, by trading carbon credits, use of bio-fuels and hybrid cars.
The plan also includes the expansion of research and development and offering loans and other credits for small and medium-sized companies developing green technologies.
