Eco Factor: Zero-emission electric scooter concept.

When thinking about a clean future, zero-emission vehicles are something we’d love to see and travel in. We’ve been regular in showcasing some of the most futuristic designs and prototypes of cars and scooters that could rule the road if not today then after a few decades, but this one is different, not in the aesthetics, but because space giant NASA has given it a green thumb.

The Motivo electric scooter has been crowned in NASA’s Create the Future contest. Designed by Tai Chiem, the transforming scooter runs on electric motors mounted inside its hub-less wheels. What fantasizes us most is the scooter’s ability to transform into a four-wheeled car without much effort. The machine is actually composed of two modular parts – an upper scooter chassis and a base carrying the electronics. If the need arises, the scooter chassis can be replaced with a car chassis, converting the vehicle into a car.

The Dark Side:

Converting the scooter into a car will definitely show its effect on the fuel efficiency. While running on two wheels the system will definitely be more energy-efficient. Moreover, the designer doesn’t mention anything about the price such a system would cost if it’s actually mass produced.
