A team of students from the Prasetiya Mulya Business School in Indonesia has won the top prize at the tenth annual Global Social Venture Competition at the University of California. The team’s invention is what they call the EcoFaeBrick. The bricks, developed to reduce building costs for rural Indonesian homes, not only prevent the use of precious firewood and clay as building material but also solve a major hygiene problem.

The team has won $25,000 in prize money for the invention, which could prove fruitful for thousands of individuals living in rural Indonesia. EcoFaeBrick expects its business model to be feasible for any emerging area with rapid development and a high concentration of cattle farming.
