Eco Factor: Artificial plants capable of generating solar and wind energy.
Taking inspiration from natural forms, industrial designer Jaewon Sim has proposed a self-sufficient forest of artificial and natural plants that can generate renewable energy for electric cars and facilitate the grid with clean energy when the plants aren’t being used. Dubbed Energy Forest, the system requires the installation of natural and artificial Power Plants that generate electricity and harvest rainwater.
The Power Plants are equipped with solar and wind energy generators, water harvesting system and a bench. The plants provide electricity for public facilities like street lights and collect rainwater, which is then stored in underground tanks to help irrigate plants in the dry season.
The forest will also be equipped with electric car charging kiosks, which will use the power generated by the artificial plants. Moreover, when not in use, the plants will supply renewable electricity to the grid.
