Eco Factor: Micro-hydro turbine for passionate campers.

Apart from solar and wind energy, the most promising way to harness renewable energy is to generate electricity from the flow of water. If you’re an enthusiastic camper, charging your gadgets becomes important as they keep you connected with the world. However, the location you chose for a camp would not be connected to the grid, making renewable energy generation even more important. The Vena by Daniel Hull helps you do just that by making use of water to generate electricity.

The Vena is a portable hydro turbine which sticks into the riverbed and generates electricity from the flow of water. When water hits the blades of the turbine, the energy generated is converted into DC power which is fed into the main module of the turbine. This module stores the DC voltage in a battery pack and converts it into AC for your use.

All vital statistics of the system can be checked by pressing a button present on the main module. The system displays the amount of energy left in the battery pack using multi-colored LEDs.
