EcoFactor: Sharp’s 52-inch solar-powered LCD TV ushers green technology in a new direction with its innovative and modern design.

The CEATEC show this year has seen many new gadgets and technologies that could soon make their way into the commercial market. But few among all these gadgets would have captured the attention of the world as Sharp’s new LCD TV that is a stunning amalgamation of modern design with green features. The new 52-inch LCD TV has an LED back light and is probably powered completely by solar energy. A photovoltaic panel powers the TV at all times and helps you completely avoid carbon emissions when you watch your favorite shows next time. LCD technology has already taken the world by storm, and the solar panels are a nice cool addition. The commercial version of this is still some way away but this should encourage other firms to take up a similar approach to future designs.

The Dark Side:

The LCD TV comes attached with a solar floor panel and that pretty much is not something that very house would be happy with. It would have been better to have a solar panel that can be placed in the lawn and the television can be wired to it with minimum fuss. The design could use some more thought put into it, and maybe a solar panel that is placed at a point where it is easier to tap into solar power.
