Eco Factor: Kinetic energy iPhone charger.
Playing golf is not everyone’s cup of tea, but this does not stop amateur golfers from hurting people nearby with an uncontrolled swing of the club. Mac Funamizu has designed a gadget for all such amateur golfers which would not only prevent some injuries but will also charge your iPhone or other mobile phones by harnessing the kinetic energy of the swing.
Using a technique similar to the Wristgirp iPhone charger, which we showcased a couple of weeks ago, this charger harnesses the kinetic energy the user generates, imitating the swing of a club. The device only has the handgrip and not the actual club, thereby preventing the user from stroking a golf ball with this. When the grip is swung a specific number of times the energy captured can be used to charge mobile phones and other portable gadgets for a couple of hours.
The Dark Side:
The device should have been designed for professional golfers with a club attached to it. Practically, a potential user might just look silly swinging the device in the air with no club attached to it. However, if the device could be used by professional golfers on the golf course, it would have generated far more energy.
