Eco Factor: Herb grower recycles heat from a cooking pot.
Cooking in the future will be completely different than what it is today. You will have a tech kitchen where tons of gadgets would aid you in your tasks. These gadgets will be ultra-efficient and will minimize the use of water by recycling water from any possible source. UK-based designer Jonathan Banton has started work on a futuristic kitchen by designing a herb grower that reuses the waste steam from whatever you are cooking to nourish those herbs.
Osmos, as Jonathan calls the appliance, can be placed on top of a cooking pan, where it captures water vapor and steam to hydrate small plants or herbs. The Osmos can then be placed on the dining table as a thought-provoking tableware piece. Aimed for the market of 2015, Osmos not only will provide you with freshly grown herbs, but will also encourage the thought of saving energy and water.
The Dark Side:
Steam or water vapor escaping from a pan is extremely hot for plants and herbs. Moreover, if the flame below the pan is too high, it can simply turn the herbs along with the Osmos into ash.
