Eco Factor: Energy-efficient e-book powered by solar energy.

Designed by Massimo Marrazzo, the Liberto e-book reader adds a new dimension to mobile reading with the addition of photovoltaic panels for power. The name Liberto is a merger between two Italian words: “libro aperto,” which means an opened book. The device needs to be opened like a normal book for usage, and while closed the solar panels can be positioned toward the sun to charge the built-in battery system.

The thin and lightweight device is controlled by a solar-powered remote control. The remote control comes with a “Thumb” interface that lets the user flip the remote control to change the page on the e-book. Pages can also be changed using the touchpad on the frame of the Liberto. The device also comes with a virtual keyboard that allows the user to easily modify selected text or enter their own text and information.
