Eco Factor: Efficient fuel cell system for UAVs.

Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies has designed an ultra-efficient fuel cell system that can serve as a drop-in replacement for batteries in unmanned aerial systems. Dubbed the Aeropack, the system weights 2kg and stores a whopping 900Wh of usable electrical energy, which the company claims can increase the flight endurance and range by over 300%.

The energy stored in the refillable cell can also be used to run power-intensive applications on the UAVs, which until now were only used when necessary to keep the batteries running for a longer duration. The system can also be upscaled to suit different uses and platforms. Designed for high-impact, the system can also operate at 22,000 feet, which makes it fit for most UAVs, and since it offers a very low heat signature and is utterly silent, the system is safe as well.
