Datexx has launched a device that allows you to use your hand-power to charge your electronic gear.
Dubbed the SUPERBattery, the device comes with a built-in battery pack that converts the mechanical energy of your hand via a hand crank to a more usable form that is electricity. The company claims that 6 minutes of cranking can give your cell a 2 minute life, which is great if you’re in an emergency situation. If you don’t want to crank for hours for a complete charge, the system also comes with an included AC adapter, giving your devices up to 4 hours of juice on a single charge. The $30 system includes adapters for over 1200 different mobile devices including PMPs, portable gaming devices, cellphones and other video and audio players.
The Dark Side:
6 minutes of cranking for 2 minutes of talk time is not great considering other similar devices that are available on the market. With batteries getting better and more power-efficient, we hope the company will soon debut a better system.
