Eco Gadgets: Asus announces Eee Box 206 with added technology and eco-friendliness
Eco Factor: Energy-efficient nettop computer from Asus.
AS expected, Asus has officially announced their newest nettop, the Eee Box 206, which apart from added technology hosts some eco-friendly features giving it a green tag. This newbie gets a new AMD ATI Radeon HD 3450 GPU and the much-wanted HDMI port. It also comes with a remote control and DVI-D output adapter.
Other features which are still common with its predecessors are an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor paired with Intel’s 945GSE chipset, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 160 GB HDD. On the connectivity front the system packs HDMI, audio ports, headphone socket, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Talking about the features which make the system green, the system is packed with an energy-efficient power supply using a mere 20W and is made from eco-friendly materials. The noise output is also low at just 26dB. The system is available in two colors for $438.
The Dark Side:
The system still runs on Windows XP and still doesn’t have an optical drive.
