Eco-maniacs really are out on a mission to create the most planet friendly gizmos and the latest super-appliance joining the prestigious ranks is the all new and oh-so-revolutionary Xeros washing machine concept that claims to be able to clean an entire load of wash using only a single cup of water! The unbelievable gadget invented by a team of British researchers headed by Professor Stephen Burkinshaw apparently uses a handful of plastic chips (measuring 0.5 centimeter and weighing around 44lbs in all) along with a cup of water and detergent to clean your washables.

At the start of the wash cycle, the water gets heated up and dissolves the dirt and stains out of the clothes that is then absorbed by the chips leaving your clothes dry and clean. The chips are to be removed at the end of each wash and can be used for upto 100 times which roughly translates into six months of laundry! Astonishing as it is, the machine seems to actually work and though it is still in its testing phase, promises to help the freshwater crisis around the world by a huge margin whenever it makes it into mainstream lifestyle.
