Eco Factor: Zero-emission car designed to run on lithium-ion batteries.

First-year students at the University of Sydney have spent the last five months designing and building an all-electric vehicle dubbed ManGo. The hand-built car is designed to be lightweight and features a four-wheel drive with a motor in each wheel, eliminating the need for mechanical brakes.

The vehicle doesn’t have any axle, differential or gear box, which reduce the overall weight of the car. The inventors claim that the vehicle is so light that two people can pick it up. The 155cm wide car gets powered by a 48V lithium-ion battery pack.

ManGo also gets a regenerative braking system, which allows the car to recharge its batteries when rolling downhill or when the brakes are applied. Equipped with a 240V adaptor, the car can easily be plugged into a wall socket to charge its batteries.
