The Philippine Solar Car Society Inc. has launched the country’s second solar-powered car. Dubbed Sikat, the solar car is a successor to the Sinag, RP’s first solar-powered car that was developed for the 2007 World Solar Car Challenge in Australia.

Sikat features a much sleeker and maneuverable design that was made by a 33-member team of engineering students and faculty members from De La Salle University. The solar vehicle weighs only 190kg, about 100kg less than the Sinag. With onboard solar panels generating energy on the move, the vehicle can hit a top speed of 112kph.
