Eco Arts: Papervillain – Artwork crafted from trashed gossip papers

Eco Factor: Recycled paper converted into artwork.

Londoners get free news and gossip papers at even underground tube stations, which usually ends up on the streets or in the first bin they encounter after their ride is over. While the use of that much paper is far from being green, littering is another menace.

Designers over at “The Functionality” have reused this paper to craft a structure that could encourage Londoners to be more conscious about the free gossip papers. Dubbed Papervillain, the structure is created by the mass of free papers.

The designers state that over 3 weeks, 17 pairs of hands individually folded 2542 traditional paper hats from an equal mix of London Lite and London Paper. Together these hats formed a tensile canopy for The Secret Garden Festival.
