Eco Factor: First solar powered urban community coming up in L.A.
The largest city of California, Los Angeles, will soon be home to The Gatsby Hollywood, L.A.’s first solar powered community. The community will consist of 34 California Brownstones that hail from the heart of Old Hollywood.
The community is planned to be set up on the south side of Sunset Boulevard, which enables the residents to be at walking distance to theaters, restaurants, and other shopping venues. The 1,500-square-foot houses come with 2-car garages, organic interiors, 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and private rooftop decks. To own a house in this Certified California Green community you might have to spend in excess of $800,000.
The Dark Side:
Houses with 3 bathrooms and 2 car garages will keep people busy in wasting the most valuable resources that include water and fuel. Being ecofriendly one way and wasting all the saved carbon in some other way is not what we should be encouraging people to do. Still, if you own an electric car and plan to have some rainwater harvesting systems installed, then this might just be the best place to live.
