EarthTronics’ turbine in a box will let the common man generate wind energy too

Since green energy is all set to be the flavor of the millennium, we thought it was only worth while to bring wind energy into the focus since solar power has already taken the world by storm. Created by EarthTronics in collaboration with Michigan’s Grand Valley State University, the innovative “turbine in a box” is a 36″ off-the-shelf micro turbine power generator that can take 10-20% off of the average home’s electricity usage. The unique gear-less design allows the turbine to produce energy at wind speeds as low as 3mph making it useful in a much wider area of wind conditions. The renewable dynamo is all set to hit retail by the end of 2009 and at $2,000 a pop, the turbine is certainly an investment for all home owners.
