Eco Factor: Sustainable residential complex certified by LEED Gold.

Designers over at David Baker + Partners Architects have unveiled the designs of a new neighborhood, situated on seven-and-a-half acres in the southern end of Oakland. The development features a range of affordable housing solutions that are surrounded by green pathways, pocket parks and open spaces.

Dubbed Tassafaronga, the development is anchored by a large public plaza and the development’s three different housing areas are equipped with semi-private space for sheltered play and gathering areas for children and residents. Currently under construction, the development will provide studio apartments, townhouses and apartments of different sizes.

The LEED ND Gold Certified neighborhood features buildings that are designed to the highest level of sustainability. Solar energy is also harvested for hot water and electricity to reduce the load on the grid.
